It is absolutely true for the majority of professional magicians. Naturally most magicians know thousands of tricks. But when it comes to actually performing, they do the same seven every time. These are the ones they have performed for years and truly master. From this point of view it is not that overwhelming to build up a magic show. You just have to find your seven magic tricks.
I have one more thing about choosing your magic tricks. Try to start out with simple magic tricks - and see what happens. Because simple magic tricks are easy to learn! That means that you in no time can try out a lot.
