Interaction is the greatest secret of magic
How come so many magicians have problems communicating with people?
You are not only doing magic tricks for yourself.
Magic tricks really first exist in the meeting with another human being. You need at least one person to watch and become involved with you and your trick.
This may sound too obvious to you. But in real life most magicians - especially amateurs - are so self-centered that they often can’t sense the people they are performing for.
I have time and time again witnessed magicians who claimed their shows to be fantastic without noticing that the audience was bored or even insulted. I have even seen people leaving magic shows, and the magician didn’t even notice!
How come so many magicians have problems
sensing the wellbeing of other human beings?
The problem is that too many magicians are too focused on their fantastic magic tricks and their own wonderful ego.
This is how you overcome it:
Every time you perform magic, practice to move your attention from yourself to the audience. They are the ones who are going to enjoy your magic. Think of yourself as a joyful waiter who is serving magic tricks. This mindset of a waiter is a very strong and useful image just to practice moving your attention to the spectators.
So for a moment please forget you are a star and be a servant of magic…
You will be surprised to see the reactions.
