This the strongest method to make any magic stronger.

I call it “Before and After the Magic”

The basic idea is to make sure the audience understand all the conditions of your magic trick. They have to know exactly what happens before and after the effect. Your job is to make it easy for them to understand.

Start focussing on this 3 elements

1. Before
Decide what is the single most important condition before the magic takes place. It could be that everyone knows his or her card is in the middle of the deck. It could be everybody knows the rope is definitely cut in two pieces. It could be the coin is in your hand.

It has to look fair or to be more precise: it has to feel fair for the spectator. They have to sense the condition. They have seen it They touch it or what ever is important to make them understand the conditions before you start the magic.

2. The Magic
In the eyes of the spectators, this is what you actually do to make the magic happen. It could be you wave your hand over the deck or you stare at the deck, while you mumble strange words. It could be a snap of your fingers or a squeeze of the hand.

Try to be slow, intense and create huge suspence. Make them really believe this is the moment when the magic happen.

Generally these magic intermezzos should not take too long . You don’t want the spectators to forget the conditions before and after.

3. After
Know for sure what the effect is and be absolutly sure everybody UNDERSTANDS it. For example be sure everybody has SEEN the two pieces of rope are now one. Be sure they have seen their signed card is now on the top of the deck. Be sure everyone sees the coin is now gone. Often the magician hurries on the next effect. Everything happens too fast and not all the spectators get it. So take your time.

Once again:

A person have to sense the conditions before he can react upon them..

You would be amazed to know how many magicians forget these very important details. Yes, I know it sounds obvious, but check it out next time you watch a magician.

I know that it may sound boring to some of you, but try to analyse your magic magic with this simple concept in mind.
