Raymond Crowe: Hand shadows

This is probably the best hand shadow artist who has ever existed…

If you look in old magic books you very often find a section with hand shadow figures. Because in the old days hand shadowing was a standard part of a magician’s repertoire.

You know a magician’s task have always been to give the audience a magical experience. So in the old days a magician had a lot of other components in their shows like hand shadowing, hypnosis and memory skills; and in the end of the 19th century moving pictures, but that is another story.

What you see here is the one and only hand shadow artist Raymond Crowe. He is absolutely fantastic. I saw him for the first time in a live performance during the World Championship of Magic in Den Haag 2003.

He received a greater applause than some of the best magicians in the world. That is because Raymond Crowe’s act is truly magical, elegant, beautiful, artistic and most of all everyone can relate to ONE man and the play and joy of his hands. Simplicity, my friends:-)

You can buy his book here if you want to learn how to do hand shadows, too

Jeff Dunham: Can you make fun with terrorism?

Listen to the testimonies of a dead suicide bomber. It is rare that entertainers take up serious subjects like suicide bombers, death, car bombs, terrorism, terrorist camps and that kind of stuff. It sounds like an impossible task. Don’t you think?

And what a need there is for these subjects to be taken care of. Watch the ventriloquist Jeff Dunham. He is nothing less than genius. Try listening to his talk with a dead suicide bomber named Achmed. I think this is an illustration of what humor can do. Very impressing to touch so difficult subjects, and still make it reasonable and properly.

Chriss Bliss: 3 balls and one man

April 30th, 2008 No Comments   Posted in Related Artist To inspire You

Pure energy. A man’s joy and play with three balls and with a nice melody. Nothing more is necessary than a simple theme that everyone can relate to. Notice that he in no way looks like he comes from a circus, no glittering flannel pants and so on.

He is what I would call the “naked performer”. He is who he is. A man in his early sixties with a little potbelly, who does what he has been doing his entire life. His name is Chriss Bliss and he has been doing this kind of show for many years.

(And the music is by Fatboy Slim - That Old Pair of Jeans)
